Living fearlessly with chronic conditions

Welcome! My name is Jace Nicolas, and I am so glad you’re here!

Have you been wrestling with an unexpected loss, diagnosis or dilemma? Or something that causes you to doubt your own abilities, value or purpose? Trust me when I say I’ve been there, and it is my objective to walk alongside individuals affected by unexpected limitations.

Refocus on your own capabilities

Our disabilities don’t need any extra help detracting from our lives through further limiting beliefs. And whether it’s genetic or acquired, having a chronic condition will leave you guessing:

“What can I do safely without hurting myself?”

“How can I live with this level of fatigue?”

“How can I truly flourish regardless of what I’m facing?”

As a fellow zebra myself, I’m here to reassure you that, as daunting as it may seem, management and even remission is possible. You are not alone!

Your mindset overhaul

It is my conviction that anyone who is overwhelmed by chronic conditions already has the tools necessary to get back on track. However, this is easier said than done, and many of us need real guidance regarding how to bridge the gap between acceptance and daily incorporation. My program includes 1:1 sessions to help coach you through common misconceptions and unfair thinking traps we often face without realizing.

Try a session for free and see if it’s right for you.

There’s no commitment, pressure, or obligation. This introductory meeting is always free of charge, and will determine whether my coaching program is a good fit for you specifically. This meeting also includes useful resources I can point you towards, that you can utilize even if we do not end up working together. I look forward to meeting with you!

FAQs

  • I follow your lead. A common misconception about my services would be that I will be telling you what you should do next. This is not the case. Coaching is an interpersonal technique designed to help empower you to reach your goals.

  • Life coaches are not therapists or licensed medical professionals. They cannot legally treat or diagnose medical conditions, and my program would not be an appropriate substitute for such a need.

  • Introductory meetings are always free of charge. Together we will determine your level of need, and if my program could benefit you directly. Subsequent sessions are $50 each, and can be purchased individually or as a package. Refunds require at least 24-hour advance notice.

My diagnostic timeline

The following section is a brief synopsis of the major conditions that drastically changed my life.

For a more comprehensive example of my everyday life, feel free to follow my story by using the link below.

  • At 24 years old, I collapsed at work, and lost everything I had earned quite rapidly. Within a few weeks, I had to separate from my job in healthcare, withdraw completely from school and focus on my health. I had no idea what was wrong with me, and it took six grueling months to finally start connecting the dots.

  • Following several ER visits, I realized my heart rate would skyrocket after simply standing up, and I was subsequently diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). This condition causes dizziness, nausea, fatigue and black outs, just to name a few symptoms. Although incurable, this condition can very well be managed, and I was determined to calm my episodes and return to work.

  • By Spring, I had separated yet again from my career I had barely mustered the strength to restart. After extensive testing and research, I found out that many POTS patients also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which is a genetic condition that negatively impacts connective tissues. When these tissues are faulty, the body works harder to stay together, which causes dislocations, chronic pain and debilitating fatigue. I passed the diagnostic criteria with flying colors, but it took nine more months to become officially diagnosed.

  • Wrestling with these conditions was agonizing, as I wasn’t prepared for the sheer magnitude of adjustment that they required. Becoming fortified rather than sabotaged by my disabilities has been an ongoing process, and I know for a fact that so many others could use more support on their own journeys. Those of us already feeling defeated require targeted encouragement, and that is my mission here today.

“You are more than what you face. ♡”
